This is a project from earlier this year, but worthy of a dedicated post.
The client was looking for an addition to their kitchen island unit to use as a breakfast bar. They suggested the size they would like and that it should be a light timber. We settled on Birds-eye maple for the top as it has amazing character and depth.

The Birds-eye Maple top is one continuous piece of veneer applied to solid Maple then finished with Danish oil and wax. The brackets are solid Maple with a Wenge feature through the centre. The whole breakfast bar is fitted using a special hidden metal bracket to eliminate any visible fixings. The whole section is removable in one go if needed.
